Summer dinghy courses

SLYC is running its usual RYA Youth Sailing Scheme courses during July and August this year. These are an amazing opportunity for young people to develop their sailing skills in a fun and safe environment and a very short time. More information is on our summer dinghy courses page.

Power Boat Level 2 and Safety Boat training

I am arranging PBL2 and SB training to take place from April (yes, it's very short notice) so that we can get some more from our cadre of parents and young instructors qualified in time for the start of this year's Sunday sailing school.

Each course will take either 2 days or four (maybe five) weekday evenings.

In April our instructor Stevie Andrews is unavailable on Sundays so weekend courses in April will have to be spread over two Saturdays. I would like to encourage as many parents as possible of the Sunday sailing school and the Dinghy 2 class to obtain at least the first of these qualifications.

Prices are as follows:

• Club members: £200 per course
• Non members: £240 per course (due to us having to collect VAT - HMRC rules)
• Discount for full time education: £35 per course
• Discount for booking both courses: £25
• For non members the discounts apply before VAT is calculated.

If you are interested do please copy the following table into an email, mark the dates that you are available (note that weekends are all day, weekdays are evenings only) and email it to me. I will then try and arrange courses to suit people's times (no promises though - I'll just do what I can).
